Regulations on Private & Public Land Planting

The edenn urn is legal to use! Planting regulations may vary quite a bit from country to country, however you can always purchase the urn to keep at home or plant in your private property! 

Regulation has not kept up with innovation, so most countries don’t have specific laws on biodegradable tree urns, but the table below will provide some general guidance. Please make sure to check with local authorities or your funeral directors for the most accurate rules. 

United Kingdom 
The UK’s laws on this date back to two centuries ago, despite the country’s rapid shift into greener funerals. Laws regulate the planting of an urn, however there are no limitations when it comes to storing the urn above ground, at home, or scattering the ashes. 

• Planting on private property is allowed as long as there’s permission from the landowner. There’s no need to involve environmental agencies or local councils. 
• Planting on public property is more regulated. National parks and woodlands generally allow scattering, but you would need to be contact them to inquire about planting. 
• Most regular cemeteries and crematoria would happily accept a biodegradable urn to plant for you in their grounds, however you’d need to inquire about the planting of a tree. 
• Natural burial grounds and green cemeteries are on the rise and they will be more than happy to host the edenn urn. You can check out a list here.
