How to Plant
tree urn instructions

We recommend planting the urn with a young tree, rather than a seed. Seeds require extra care as they take long time to germinate and a successful tree sprouting cannot be guaranteed.

  1. Select an appropriate tree: one that will flourish in the local conditions and environment. For the UK, we trust the Woodland Trust to guide you in your choice, for Europe you can check out here.
  2. Plant in the right time: this is crucial. The goal is to avoid winters and summers. Best time to plant a young tree is in autumn, then early spring.
  3. Dig a planting hole: the golden rule is for the hole to be at least three times wider than the root system and as deep as the pot it came in. Dig a little deeper (22cm) so you can fit the edenn urn underneath.
  4. Place the urn: place it on bottom and remove the Halo (upper part of the lid). This will open up the soil additive chamber where you’ll find the coco coir. It will expand more than three times when watered and will provide additional nourishment for the tree.
  5. Place the tree: gently put on top and cover with soil. Make sure that the widest part of the trunk (the trunk flare) is partly visible. If you are using a tree guard, now’s the time to add it.
  6. Firm down the soil: push down the soil around the tree.
  7. Add mulch: cover the area around the tree in organic matter such as leaves and bark.
  8. Water properly: How much would depend on the tree you’ve selected.
